Why did they, to keep slave anti-slave states even, split a slave state in two? They were much bigger then the ainti- slave states.

How was the tension between North and South when Franklin Pierce, who avoided slavery issue, was the president?

If neither side was satisfied with the act, why did it pass? Couldn't the lawmakers try to come up with a bill that more people agreed on?

I think the compromise didn't make either of them happy.

This may be a silly question, but just in general and in the Compromise of 1850 were people in the states allowed to vote on whether or not they became a slave or free state?

after Missouri joined the union(the group of free states), what changes happened the balance of power between free states and slave states?

Why the compromise let Missouri be a slave state, which favored slaver but banned slavery in the Louisiana Territory north of 36 30 latitude line?

Missouri was a slave states with the lusisiana territory banning slavery. does this mean that lusisiana territory make there own laws?

Why weren't rights granted to states such as New Mexico and Utah apply to the remainder of states.

Why would government vote on the rights of individual states, rather than having states decide what rights they would bestow on themselves?
