Write at least 200 words responding to your reading. Think about connections you can make and questions that you have. Try to include at least one question for posters who follow you and try to make a connection to at least one poster before you. |

I thought that these sections of reading gave us a very good idea about how Native American's viewed hunting and gathering. One thing in particular that struck me from the second reading was the fact that farming was somewhat accidental. The fact that native americans "accidentally" grew crops by agitating the soil and burning woods was truly fascinating to me. Also the In the first reading the story about the magical bear really conveyed the kind of respect in which native americans treated their kill. The metaphor of the hunter sleeping with and ultimately becoming the bear was symbolic in my opinion for what is required prior to a kill. Regarding the issue of whether Native Americans contributed in hunting off species of animals, I have to say I think it is a combination of hunting and environmental change. Overall these passages gave us a clear view of Native American Morals regarding hunting and gathering
