heres my timeline so far. tell me if theres anything i'm missing needs more explaining or doesnt need to be there or anything:


1819
The Missouri Territory applies for ‘statehood panic’

Maine separates from Massachusetts

James Tallmadge jr. proposes that no new slaves be taken in to Missouri

1820
Henry Clay suggests compromise for Missouri to be a slave state and for Maine to become a free state. Also that slavery be banned in the rest of the Louisiana territory anywhere above 36 30’ north latitude

Monroe is reelected

Congress approves the Missouri Compromise

1823
Monroe Doctrine

1824
Presidential election. William Crawford from the south. Andrew Jackson from Tennessee. Henry Clay and John Quincy Adams run as nationalists

Jackson had most votes but not enough to win

1825
House Of Representatives elects John Quincy Adams

1848
Zachary Taylor elected president

California is ordered to apply for statehood

1850

Early 1850 Henry Clay proposes an omnibus bill

California enters the union as free state but slavery is left to popular dominion

Congress debates clays bill for 6 months

President Taylor dies July 9th 1850

Congress defeats the bill in July 1850

Millard Fillmore takes over presidency

Stephen a. Douglas submits a compromise, which is almost the same as Clay’s, but instead it is proposed to congress in separate parts

Congress passes Compromise of 1850

Compromise takes a toll on political system and the Whig party, which Millard Fillmore is, part of

1852

The election ends the Whig party

Industrial growth and railroads

It looks good, Georgia!

I researched the Political Issues from our topic and I wrote about a page and a half worth of stuff. I actually might have written too much info so can you help me edit it down to the most important information during class?

I found myself having to summarize the Missouri Compromise and the Compromise of 1850 as a whole, because it connected to what I had to say about the political issues. So nobody need's to write an overview of what everything actually was... see you tomorrow!
