No Liam, it has to be about whether Rome could have gone back to being a republic after the death of Caesar.

And I had a thought... for a republic to work, the group of people have to collectively want it to happen. If one person forces it on everyone else, how is that different form a dictatorship?

if someone forced it upon everyone, it would be like a dictatorship, but if one person is forcing a republic, it could'nt be a dictatorship and a republic Confused Confused

well i think that the people of rome have assimilated into the monarchy rule too much and that if there were to be an attempt towards a republic there would be an uproar and it would fail. also i think as many have said that they probably found it to be a failed system. i will be using these in my paper. ha

Hey, I have a few notes for both sides of the discussion that I thought I'd post for anyone to use if they wanted. Just to give ideas~

NOT IN FAVOR (no, it COULDN'T go back to a Republic)
-Corruption tends to build up in a government with so many positions like the Republic. (power could be tampered with, et cetera)
-It's less efficient than rule under a dictator.
-Only a few probably even remember the days of the Republic. They don't really have anything to build off of.
-Caesar was loved by many (appointed as dictator over and over) and many seemed to like having one sole leader like Caesar.
-Many thought that the Republic failed.

IN FAVOR (yes, it COULD go back to a Republic)
-There was obviously some sort of disfavor of Caesar (23 stabbings) and some with a governmental position like the killers might not want a dictatorship anymore.
-The Romans built the Republic off of practically nothing, and it lasted for a long time. They could do it again, right?

Not very much, I know, buuuuuut just to maybe give people ideas...? x'3 (wheeee color~)

Zoey, you mean the Ancient Rome packet Rachel assigned right? Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Is the packet just excerpts from " Roman Civilization" edited by NL and MR? If my sources were only from the Ancient Rome packet and class discussions, does the bibliography only include the Ancient Rome packet? Wouldn't that be a short ( one source) bibliography?

England unchanged for Italy clash

2011 SIX NATIONS: ENGLAND v ITALY
Venue: Twickenham Stadium Date: Saturday, 12 February Kick-off: 1430 GMT
Coverage: Watch live on BBC One, Red Button and BBC Sport website from 1400; listen on BBC Radio 5 live; live text commentary online and on mobiles

Haskell is more accustomed to working on the blind-side
England manager Martin Johnson has kept faith with the same starting XV that beat Wales in their Six Nations opener for Saturday's match at home to Italy.
The decision means James Haskell is preferred at open-side flanker ahead of specialist number seven Hendre Fourie.
Fourie displaces Wasps veteran Joe Worsley, who appeared as a replacement in Cardiff, on the bench.
Northampton's Tom Wood and number eight Nick Easter complete the back row while Mike Tindall retains the captaincy.
Italy have won only twice in the last three Six Nations but led Ireland before losing out 13-11 on Saturday.
More to follow.
England side to play Italy:
Ben Foden (Northampton); Chris Ashton (Northampton); Mike Tindall (Gloucester, capt), Shontayne Hape (Bath); Mark Cueto (Sale); Toby Flood (Leicester), Ben Youngs (Leicester), Andrew Sheridan (Sale), Dylan Hartley (Northampton), Dan Cole (Leicester), Louis Deacon (Leicester), Tom Palmer (Stade Francais), Tom Wood (Northampton), James Haskell (Stade Francais), Nick Easter (Harlequins).
Replacements: Matt Banahan (Bath), Jonny Wilkinson (Toulon); Danny Care (Harlequins); Dave Wilson (Bath); Steve Thompson (Leeds); Simon Shaw (Wasps); Hendre Fourie (Leeds)

Guys, correct me if I'm wrong, but did we hold a conversation about the Aeneid? I've finished the assigned reading and I'll read this but currently I'm unable to answer the questions.
